FAQ - Multilayer-kit
You have questions?
What is a Multilayer Kit?
The Multilayer Kit (MLK) is a plug & play upgrade that lets you produce multilayer labels on your existing label press. Depending on the manufacturer it is also known as a web shifting device, seal unit, crossover module, cross-over unit, peel and reveal module or peel and seal unit. It is the original compact solution on the market for inline multilayer label production.
Which label printing presses is the Multilayer Kit compatible with?
The MLK integrates with virtually any narrow- or mid-web label press or converting machine, including Gallus, Nilpeter, MPS, Mark Andy, Bobst, Omet, Rhyguan, AB Graphic and Grafotronic. No electrical integration is required, so it works independently of your machine’s control system.
Which types of labels can I produce with the Multilayer Kit?
You can produce multilayer labels, also called sandwich labels, multi-web labels, peel-and-reveal labels or peel-off labels, with up to three layers. Typical applications are labels that need to carry more information in the smallest possible space, for example in pharma, cosmetics, food and industrial goods.
How long does installation take and do I need an electrician?
Installation takes around 30 minutes and requires no electrical integration. The kit is mounted onto your existing press, so you can produce your first inline multilayer labels the same day.
Why choose the Multilayer Kit instead of a dedicated multilayer machine?
A separate multilayer machine only pays off at high, steady utilization. The MLK upgrades a press you already own, so you can produce small to medium runs quickly and flexibly without investing in a full additional line. This keeps you profitable even at lower volumes.
What web widths and speeds does the Multilayer Kit support?
Three models cover web widths from 60 to 600 mm: MLK 350 (60 to 350 mm), MLK 450 (60 to 450 mm) and MLK 600 (60 to 600 mm). All models run at up to 150 m/min depending on the material, at under 70 dB(A) operating noise.
How many layers can the Multilayer Kit produce?
The Multilayer Kit produces up to three-layer sandwich labels inline, without a separate converting step. Contact-free web guiding is handled by integrated microporous turning bars for gentle material handling.
